Colleen M. Kelly is a Santa Barbara-based artist who double majored in Studio Art (with an emphasis in Printmaking) and earned her MFA in Painting at UCSB. While at the university, she developed strong interests in environmental, socio-political, and feminist issues that feature prominently in her work. She won a major public art commission at the new Santa Barbara Airport, where she worked with a prominent iron fabricator to create Giant Brown Kelp, flowing iron guardrails and gate which were featured front and center in the new terminal.
She recently successfully completed a public art installation in Los Angeles, Dream Portal. Kelly’s 2-D has won top awards in national competitions. She has exhibited extensively in group and juried exhibits in Santa Barbara, Ventura and Los Angeles, as well as nationally and internationally. She is most proud of the work she does with young artists. As a taskmaster, she helps emerging artists expand their community contacts and get their work exhibited.
Colleen has been an active mentor in the AWoL Emerging Artists mentorship program as she has guided artists including Tom Pazderka, Andi Schoenbaum, and several others toward success in an arts career.
