FOCUS: Music (Conducting)
Maestro Kaberetti has been Music and Artistic Director of the Santa Barbara Symphony since 2006 and has guest conducted some of the finest orchestras around the world, including the Israel and Tokyo Philharmonics. Maestro Kabaretti gave Daniel the opportunity to work with the famed conductor, Zubin Mehta and be his Assistant Conductor for the SB Symphony.
Nir Kabaretti has established a high-profile international music conducting career. The award-winning conductor graduated from the prestigious University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna and immediately offered chorus master of the Vienna State Opera and the Salzburg Festival. He has conducted numerous orchestras around the world, including: Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, L’Orchestra del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, and Orquesta Filarmonica de Buenos Aires. Kabaretti has also produced international operatic productions such as: Maggio Musicale Fiorentino (Die Entführung aus dem Serail, Macbeth, Il Trovatore), Teatro Real in Madrid (Cenerentola, Die Walküre), The Israeli Opera (Fidelio, Manon Lescaut), Opéra de Lausanne (Nino Rota’s Il Cappello di Paglia di Firenze, Die Fledermaus) and The New National Theatre in Tokyo (The Barber of Seville).
Kabaretti is mentoring Daniel Newman-Lessler, who has recently graduated from the USC Thorton School of Music with a masters degree. Daniel was able to assist his mentor in conducting Mozart’s Jupiter Symphony and Requiem with the Santa Barbara Symphony. Kabaretti’s support has helped him begin his own conducting career. He will now be teaching music at Pepperdine College and a course on “great music conductors” at Cal State University Channel Islands, as he continues to work with Nir in the mentorship.
